Marvel’s JESSICA JONES series on Netflix is basically feminism personified: a badass female heroine & her badass female sidekick toppling a Big Bad (also an apt metaphor for the patriarchy) and making the streets of Hell’s Kitchen safer for New Yorkers of all ages, genders, and sexual persuasions.
Speaking of sex, Jessica has lots of it! In an empowering way!
But while the series did have double the average number of female directors helming episodes of the first season, that still only accounted for 4 out of 13 total episodes. For a show about a female superhero–peddling the ultimate lady-power agenda–those are pretty sucky numbers.
But no more! Season 2 is taking no prisoners: Showrunner Melissa Rosenburger promises that EVERY DAMN EPISODE of this season will be directed by woman.
Now that’s more like it.
