Auli’i Cravalho’s name is beautiful, but takes a bit of work for some Americans to get right. It turns out even Dwayne Johnson is susceptible to some pronunciation struggles.
In a press interview for the Disney smash-hit Moana, Cravalho broke down her first name name into three easy parts with some tips on how to remember. She says she’s heard a plethora of different versions of her name but that “getting it right is always appreciated.”
When she sounds out her last name for viewers, Johnson admits that he’s been “butchering” it with “confidence” throughout the press tour. She gives him so advice: “You don’t need the ‘ho’ at the end.”
