Disney’s been in the animation game a long-ass time. From Walt’s first outing, SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARVES, to the House of Mouse’s most recent release, MOANA, it’s pretty fascinating to examine how Disney’s stories and style have changed along with the world at large–ideologically, artistically, and technologically. And apart from an awkward post-Walt puberty in the ’70s and 80s and a brief mid-life crisis in the early-aughts, it’s been pretty much one long Golden Age.
In this video from Bora Barroso, watch Disney’s signature aesthetic evolve over the decades, from the original handrawn 2D to the freakishly detailed CGI of the last few years. And prepare for a few unexpected tears–the soundtrack on this is pure pathos.
