In the wake of NYCC (that’s New York Comic Con for the noobs who don’t know), which is now on it’s second day of pure geeky awesomeness, and with Halloween around the corner, we’d like to highlight some of our favorite cosplays. But not just any cosplays, because let’s be honest, with a rapid growth in the number of people cosplaying as a hobby since 1990s, the phenomenon has grown to something we couldn’t cover in one article even if we wanted to try.
We however, have chosen to focus on the #29DaysOfBlackCosplay, the hashtag created by black nerd and supreme cosplayer Chaka Cumberbatch. The fabulous cosplayer originally started the hashtag last year to celebrate Black History month and the creativity of black cosplayers. Check out some of our favorites below:
If you’re a cosplayer, of any color, creed or nationality, and want to support Black cosplay, check out Un-Re Designs, a cosplay fashion company owned and run by black cosplayer Terryann Harding, also known as Kael Cosplayz.
Currently she is only producing J-Fashion accessories, but costumes are “Coming Soon” according to her webpage. Check out her Etsy shop here.
