Flat free tires aren’t a new concept, but they’re most applicable to cars. While there are already flat free tires for bikes as well, they have serious issues when it comes to poor stiffness and shock absorption – which can utterly ruin a ride (almost as much as if they’re flat).
Well toss out your patch kits and leave your pumps at home, because Utah-based Nexo claims to have solved these issues with it’s latest creation! This new revolution in riding comes in the form of an airless, tubeless tire that makes sure you can keep on pedaling. The tires are made of polymeter blends, which give the perfect combination of cushion, resilience, AND durability. The key is in all three!
These tires come in two different forms: the Nexo and the Ever. The Nexo modification is for bicyclists who prefer to reuse their rims and can be mounted on existing wheels – these have a lifespan of up to 3,100 miles. The Ever, on the other hand, replaces the entire wheel (i.e. a ‘drop-in wheel set) and has a lifespan of 5,000 miles.
As if this company already isn’t winning the game – the tires are made of a single material these can actually be recycled! Which is a HUGE pedal (step?) in the right direction if you consider this:
Say goodbye to conventional tires – let’s get rolling!
