ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK Actress Samira Wiley Got Engaged To Show Writer Lauren Morelli

True love blossoms in strange places; like at the office, or in prison–or at your office which is also a fake prison, because you work on the set of ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK.

Netflix’s original show about dames behind bars regularly dishes out plenty of onscreen romances for us to ship, but now a real-life relationship is sailing offset and into the sunset: Poussey Washington’s actress, Samira Wiley, and staff writer Lauren Morelli are getting married!

Wiley announced the couple’s engagement on Instagram on Tuesday with an adorable smiley pic, casually featuring her gorgeous ring.Basically, they’re so cute that it makes you want to adopt an exotic animal to fill the void in your own lonely heart. No? Just me? Anyway.

As perfect as they may be now, their road to true love wasn’t at first so simple.

Morelli was actually married to a man when she met Wiley on the set of OINTB; it was through her interactions and friendships with largely LGBT cast and crew that she came to realize and accept that she was actually totally gay.”I went through it all on set: I fell in love with a woman, and I watched my life play out on screen,” she wrote in a piece for Mic, where she detailed her struggle and ensuing revelation about her sexuality. She said she purposely dealt with a lot of her own feelings through writing the characters:

“I was nervous about the first love scene I’d written for Alex and Piper. I’d loved writing it, loved watching a tenderness emerge in their relationship where passion always seemed to be the ruling principle, but by that time, I was so deep in my own self-doubt that I constantly felt like a fraud. I was sure it was bleeding into my writing. How could it not? I was married to a man, but I wasn’t straight.”

Art imitates life. Life imitates art. And it is pretty poetic that in creating queer characters, Morelli was able to discover herself.

Morelli and her ex-husband divorced in September 2014, but still remain good friends. And while Wiley unfortunately taken her final bow from OINTB, she still gets to come home to the show everyday in the form of her lady love.

Don’t you love happy lesbian endings?
