Why Does MURPHY BOT Think Santa Claus Is Osama bin Laden?

Sometimes, us over here at Yuyu, we have too much time on our hands. Or maybe, it’s that we put the time in our hands, time that really should be used up by some other, more important task.

But regardless, sometimes (in using our time unwisely) we come across a masterpiece of confusion and absurdity that we never would have found otherwise.

This is one of those times.

Murphy Bot, or Project Murphy, is an experiment that came out of Microsoft’s Skype bot family, and has taken the internet hold. Basically it works like this: you start a Facebook Messenger with Murphy (the robot) and you ask it a question starting with the prefix “What if…?” and it responds with a photoshopped image as a response.

Here’s an example:

So asking it to show us the Terminator as a balloon, ends up with a picture of Terminator holding balloon (deserts?) In other words, it’s not always exactly on point, but it’s close.

Anyway it’s the holidays, and we thought “well this is a funny little tool, why not try to get some funny christmas pics out of it?”

But so wrong.

In an incredibly strange (but thought provoking) twist, the bot decided that the man so cherished by children the world over, the man with the jolly vibes and the long white beard…would also lead al-Qaeda.

Murphy is CONVINCED that santa is indeed, Osama Bin Laden. We are not quite sure why, but it is equally uncomfortable and hilarious.

So to finish the day, we thought we’d take one of our films and try to get an image that could possibly represent it, here’s our shot:

Thaaaat’s actually pretty close to the original, which you can watch for free here:
