Meet Charles James, CoverGirl’s First Ever Coverboy

Destroying gender norms & killing the highlight game: 17-year-old Charles James is making major waves in the beauty world by becoming the first man ever to ascend to the coveted ranks of CoverGirls.

James is a makeup artist and beauty Youtuber whose first real claim to fame came in the form of a hilarious (but also gorgeous) Tweet gone viral:

Homeboy brought his own equipment. You don’t often see that kind of dedication in someone so young; such a single-minded drive for fabulousness. And it’s that kind of precocious teen initiative that needs to be recognized–preferably with a lucrative modeling contract.

Charles begins his CoverGirl career as the eyes behind the brand’s latest mascara launch, “So Lashy!” But soon he’ll expand into other products, as well as ads and TV spots. We can’t wait, and neither can he (it’s adorable):

“All of our COVERGIRLs are role models and boundary-breakers, fearlessly expressing themselves, standing up for what they believe, and redefining what it means to be beautiful. James Charles is no exception,” CoverGirl wrote in a release.  “One year ago, he boldly chose to launch his Instagram to the world, using transformative, dynamic makeup looks to showcase the many facets of his personality, serving as an inspiration to women, men, guys and girls who might have been afraid to do the same.”

Amazing. Also he met fellow CoverGirl/beauty icon Katy Perry, so it seems like everything truly is coming up goddamn Charles James:
