2016 may have reached record-breaking levels of shittiness for the world at large, but man was it a killer year for musical/writerly/thespian wunderkind Lin Manuel Miranda, who not only took home pretty much all the Tony’s for his historical hip-hopera HAMILTON, but also made a name for himself a major player in the Disney cinematic universe–their go-to guy, if you will.
Homeboy not only wrote several original songs for Polynesian Princess flick MOANA, which premieres Thanksgiving weekend, but has also signed on to contribute to the live-action LITTLE MERMAID movie and to play a Bert-like role in the MARY POPPINS sequel. And now–as if we weren’t spoiled enough–Miranda’s been enlisted to pen a new, top-secret animated project with ZOOTOPIA and TANGLED co-director Byron Howard. God, what a DYNAMIC FUCKING DUO. Per AV Club, we owe the pairing to John Lasseter, who insisted the creators team up for the House of Mouse’s next big project.
There are literally no other details on the potential film, which is still deep in the “plotting stages.” But as essentially everything Miranda touches turns to award-winning gold, we’re pretty sure whenever it finally becomes a thing, we’re all going to collectively lose our shit.
