On November 15, rapper Lil Peep was pronounced dead at the age of 21. Lil Peep had a show planned for the next day in Tucson, Arizona. As a way to keep in touch with his fans, he livestreamed himself on Instagram. During his livestream, the rapper was shown to have taken multiple Xanax, which is assumed to have been his cause of death after an overdose.

Since his passing, family, friends and fans have mourned his death via online posts. Tweets, Instagram posts and other forms of tributes have been made for the rapper as ways to commemorate his life. However, some have taken their tributes further by choosing to sober up as their means of paying respect.

Rapper Lil Uzi Vert tweeted his condolences for Lil Peep while acknowledging that many of his counterparts in the music industry idolized drugs.

Now it seems as though Vert is choosing to stay sober. It is unknown if this is a permanent thing, or temporary. As of now, Vert has been honest about his withdrawal symptoms tweeting that he was shaking already.

Lil Peep was a young musician who was blending alternative emo music with hip-hop, gaining popularity first through his Soundcloud and YouTube channel. Though the official cause of his death has yet to be determined, his family has chosen to disclose that it was not purposeful, but accidental, despite his music touching on Lil Peep’s depression.
