This Thanksgiving, the LGBT youth at the Ali Forney Center’s Brooklyn site had an awesome number of things they could be thankful for.
Not only does the site provide necessary relief to young LGBT people who have been made homeless, often because of their families unwillingness to accept them, but they also extend the true love and support that everyone needs in their lives (but not everyone receives.)
But this year, things got even more rewarding.
That’s because the site received a visit from none-other than the queen of pop herself, Madonna! She had come by, along with her son David and daughter Mercy James, to extend her kindness and thankfulness for the program, The Huffington Post reports.
Had so much fun sharing Thanksgiving at the Ali Forney Center in Brooklyn! This center protects LGBT Youth from the harms of homelessness and empowers them to reclaim their lives. Each year the Ali Forney Center provides care for over 1,200 youth who are rejected by their family due to their LGBT identity. AFC provides these youth with tools they need to become independent and more importantly, AFC provides these youth with the love and support they are denied by their families. Because everyone deserves to be loved and everyone deserves a home. 💘🙏🏻💙!!!
The center “offers transitional and emergency housing, a drop-in program, and a variety of other services to homeless LGBT young people at several locations around New York City.” It’s not the first recent outing of Madonna’s charity either, she recently preformed a free concert in Washington Square Park on November 7.
We live in a time in which the biggest names in music do things like sell plain white t-shirt for 120 dollars because they can.
So it’s always nice to see some thoughtfulness.
