Disney is currently in an open-relationship.
In a continued effort to spread the seed, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media has partnered with LA County’s Museum of Modern Art, using their 130,000+ collection of fine-art pieces to retell some of Disney’s beloved tales…over snapchat.
The Disney and LACMA Snapchat teams will be using a variety of methods (memes, filters, snapchat overlays, ect.) to create a contemporary twist on the classics. Clearly the ultimate goal here is to create a massive fan-base that spreads across all social media platforms.
According to Mashable:
“The digital division of Disney racks up about 325 million views per month. Its core brands include Disney Style, Oh My Disney (a Millennial focused property, like BuzzFeed with a Disney lens), DisneyFamily and Babble. They also distribute original content through their portfolio of sites and owned apps, including Disney GIF and the Star Wars app.”
So Disney finally wants to make their mark on the internet, and when you think about it, it’s crazy it took them so long.
The partnership begins today, Oct.19th, with a retelling of “Beauty And The Beast.” And in the meantime, you can watch this video of Nemo told through Emojis.
Remember, you can catch the retelling on either the LACMA or OhMyDisney Snapchat, tonight.
