Becca Longo 18,  is a kicker for the Chandler Basha High School football team in Arizona signed her letter of intent to play college football with Adams State University in Colorado last month.

Longo is excited to play football after injuries and being told by doctors that she could not play sports. Longo is especially surprised by all the buzz this is getting recently after her coach confirmed that she is the first woman to receive a scholarship at the Division II level or higher.

Longo never expected to go as far as college with football, but used the doctors advice to not play sports as further motivation to give it her all. Her advice to young women is to do whatever the are compelled to do and to “block out the negativity.”

Former Cardinals quarterback Timm Rosenbach serves as the head coach and anticipates Longo to be successful. “To me, there is no doubt she can be competitive. She has a strong leg, and she can be very accurate,” says Rosenbach.

Longo is aware of the competition at Adams State, the university recently signed kicker Tiago Paim and in addition, they have a returning sophomore player, Eduardo Majalca.

“I’m ready to compete,” I don’t really have any expectations beyond that,” Longo says. Longo will also play basketball at the University.

I can’t wait for the movie about her life!
